Paralegal/Litigation Secretary- Employment Law The candidate will work directly with and support the Employment Law Attorneys/ Managing Attorney. In addition, the Litigation Secretary will work with other members of the Employment Law department, as well as other departments (i.e., Workers Compensation, Personal Injury, Administration, Intake), as assigned. In addition, may be tasked with special projects on an as-needed basis requiring direction and guidance by Management and/or other Pod Leaders. Primary duties/responsibilities include: Process correspondence, pleadings, prepare mailings, and update tasks/deadlines daily; Monitor calendar and identify deadlines to ensure department compliance; Update supervisor on all significant case developments and timely escalate issues/concerns when necessary; Assist in tracking and monitoring pending attorney tasks; File complaints and follow up on service of process; Manage cases in State and Federal court, and assist in the preparation of notices, motions, pleadings, and forms, by preparing shells, proofreading, and formatting; Assemble documents for filing and lodging with court, e-file on CM/ECF and OneLegal, and arrange copies of filings to be delivered to judge's chambers; Prepare shells for discovery, set up appointments to verify discovery responses, and prepare document production; Communicate and correspond with client(s) about case status and preparation (i.e. telephonically, in-person); Directly communicate with clients to answer questions, give case updates, and conduct further interviews and investigations into their case; Draft, file, and serve PAGA letters, Right to Sue letters, two-week letters, and demand for employment records; Conduct initial consultations of prospective clients. If retained, draft and finalize retainer and related forms; Act as interpreter in meetings with clients; Review and scan documents to be maintained as client records; Conduct and assist with legal research; Responsible for maintaining litigation calendar and court docket information on a daily basis; and Perform other duties as assigned by Management and/or Pod Leaders. should have Paralegal certificate in good active standing and/or Possess a working knowledge of all phases of litigation. Must have 2-3 years of Employment Law Experience. Should be bilingual in English and Spanish, as 90% of clients are Spanish-speaking.
