# Legal Secretary Morrison Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm, has an opening for a Litigation Legal Secretary in our Los Angeles office. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to join a premier law firm and contribute to the success of the Legal Secretaries Department. ## Essential Functions The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high level of client service and support while producing a high volume of consistently excellent work products. This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff. Additional responsibilities include: - Providing professional client relationship management with external clients - Creating, editing, and proofreading complex and practice-specific legal documents, forms, and correspondence - Assisting with the preparation of Responses to Auditor Requests and Opinion Letters - Creating and maintaining client/matter lists and communication lists - Organizing and accurately maintaining physical and electronic documents and files - Utilizing Outlook to schedule appointments and calendar dates - Assisting with timenote entry, including inputting timenotes, editing, proofreading, and closing them - Performing basic legal research and printing off cases - Utilizing Ework software to open new matters, prepare engagement letters, and process conflict reports - Collaborating with Client Account Manager and assigned timekeepers to manage billing process - Initiating client file transfer requests and assisting with client disengagements - Facilitating the secure transfer of case/client data in accordance with firm's data security policy - Providing backup support to other attorneys and timekeepers as needed - Participating in departmental projects designed to streamline workflow and/or resolve issues - Acting and assisting as a proactive mentor for junior staff and new employees - Creating and labeling CDs/DVDs and comprehensive understanding of firm's privacy policy and encryption tools ## Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma (Associate Degree preferred), a minimum of 2 to 3 years of litigation recent Legal Secretarial experience, and/or 3 years of Administrative Secretary experience. Experience working in a large law firm is preferred. The successful candidate must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to meet deadlines; excellent communication skills; highly proficient with Windows-based software used by the firm; a typing speed of 70 wpm with high level of accuracy; and flexibility regarding work schedule and availability to work overtime. ## Compensation Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. Qualifications and Prior Experience: * Bachelor's degree is preferred; Additionally, a minimum of (5) years of insurance defense experience with a specific focus on personal injury and property damage required.
