Pre-Litigation Paralegal (Mass Torts and Medical Malpractice) Duties: Responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist attorneys in preparing a case for litigation, including intake of new clients, requesting and compiling medical records and medical bills, managing document intake and review for new files. Opening and organizing case files. Handle calls from new potential clients to evaluate and ascertain actionable legal issues and strength of potential cases. Gather all information necessary for attorney to determine strengths and weaknesses of case and appropriateness of pursuing legal action. Conduct fact research; communicate with clients; gather documents; request medical records and bills, follow up on requests and organize records once obtained. Providing any other general attorney support, as requested. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree or Paralegal Certification preferred. 2+ years of pre-litigation paralegal experience required; Medical background required, such as handling personal injury, product liability or medical malpractice cases. Experience filing in Federal and State trial courts. Medical Chronology or Summation (or other document management) experience preferred. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize and handle numerous projects in a timely and efficient manner. Fast and efficient learner. Ability to work moderate overtime, as case needs require.
