Litigation Paralegal- Labor & Employment Duties: Assist and provide support to our Labor & Employment attorneys. Will provide high level support to attorneys and trial teams with all aspects of case management which includes supporting litigation cases (state and federal) and arbitrations ranging from single-plaintiff actions to large, multi-plaintiff class actions; cite checking and Bluebooking briefs and memos; electronic case filing and PACER research; discovery management including e-discovery and deposition preparation; maintenance of electronic case files; and other litigation-related duties as required. Performs legal research; searches court records for filings; may perform civil or criminal background checks. Drafts correspondence, pleadings and motions for review by assigned attorney. Prepares discovery requests; prepares outlines and notebooks for and summarizes depositions; prepares and tracks subpoenas. Contacts and interviews witnesses and potential witnesses. Reviews and analyzes document evidence. Files documents with various courts. Organizes and coordinates files, both physical and electronic. Creates and maintains databases for litigation or other practice support. Communicates and meets with clients to accomplish specific tasks. Performs duties as required by practice area assigned. Qualifications: Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred. Formal training for paralegal recommended. 3+ years' paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department which includes progressive responsibility in managing litigation matters, as well as Federal Court Litigation experience. Paralegal certification from an American Bar Association approved program preferred. Must be resourceful and able to work independently and yet communicate freely with attorneys and support staff in practice area. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; command of grammar, spelling and sentence structure. Proficiency in applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other legal support applications used in the practice. Must be organized and able to prioritize work. Positive customer service orientation. Attention to detail and ability to creatively problem solve.
