This is the Atlanta outpost of an international firm. Although this firm is international, it still has a decidedly regional feel to it, and it international only to service certain valued clients. Life is reasonably good in the Atlanta office, where there are attorneys capable of handling every measure of legal problem faced by companies or corporations. Although the litigators are able to become more specialized, corporate associates have a general practice, which ocassional spreads them (and their expertise) a bit thin. Lagging behind in compensation, this firm is dedicated to associate life issues, and has, as a result, a good deal of devoted associates.
Commercial Litigation Paralegal The candidate will maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions. Other responsibilities will allow preparing deposition notices (organizing, maintaining, and preparing deposition materials, exhibits, and summaries); track and managing discovery, including document productions; participating in case strategy meetings; and handling routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients. Must possess well-developed critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. Should have a strong sense of accountability, take ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolve issues proactively, and know how to be a true team player; 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education. Should have the ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw.
