IP Litigation Paralegal The candidate will manage the case file, keeping track of all litigation deadlines with the assistance of the docketing team, coordinating the preparation of legal papers, cite checking and proofing legal papers and briefs prior to filing, and supporting attorneys in preparing for depositions and hearings. Research, gather, analyze, and compile information and documents to assist in advising in litigation matters and as part of the discovery process. Work with attorneys in the identification, interviewing, and preparation of witnesses and collection of documents. Conduct electronic searches and researches technical references, patents, copyrights, trademarks, and legal matters. Coordinate and manage large electronic discovery collections and productions. Provide general assistance to attorneys, and prepares summaries of factual findings, legal research, and/or sequential and chronological events for attorneys. Work with attorneys in the drafting of pleadings, motions, and discovery documents. Communicate with court personnel, personnel at state and federal agencies, and other agencies regarding proceedings. Maintain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the department's work and its context in the organization as a whole, and maintains an awareness of, and stays up to date with changes in law and procedures, specifically relating to the litigation practice area, intellectual property issues, and electronic discovery. Assist with drafting and editing domestic for uploading with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). Assist with drafting, editing and filing Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications. Support patent litigation, patent appeals and contested proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Organize and synthesize information through the preparation of summaries, chronologies, reports, spreadsheets, charts, logs, and coding forms for input into databases, graphs and other usable formats. Prioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines. Administratively manage all phases of litigation case. Manage electronic and hard copy documents through litigation technology. Legal and factual cite checking including the ability to shepardize and Blue Book a brief. Perform full range of paralegal tasks from case inception through case closure. Monitor court docket sheets for assigned cases. Prepare deposition notices and subpoenas; organizing, maintaining and preparing deposition materials, exhibits and summaries and tracking depositions. Remain current in industry trends in IP Litigation and the legal profession. Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency. Trial preparation and attendance in both jury and non-jury trials in federal courts. Draft and prepare documents for service and e-filing in federal jurisdictions. Create templates for claim charts. Preparation for fact and expert witness depositions. Preparation and set-up for Markman hearings. Other duties as assigned. College degree or comparable paralegal experience is required; paralegal certificate is required. Should have 5+ years of experience providing intellectual property litigation support in a medium to large size law firm environment. Proven litigation skills, including knowledge of eDiscovery best practices, document review and production, trial and/or trial prep experience is required.
