Paralegal - Sports Law & Litigation The candidate will perform substantive legal work under the direction and supervision of a partner in the area of sports law and litigation. Assist in preparing, retaining, and organizing legal documents, agreements, pleadings, letters and electronic data. Perform legal support work. Provide factual research, document analysis and organization, and drafts pleadings. Index documentation and enters data into electronic files. Meet with and/or teleconference with clients as needed. Track billable time and enters it into the system. Present information effectively to lawyers and clients and responds to questions. Resolve routine legal questions under the direction of a lawyer. Two of the following three are required: Paralegal certificate, a four-year degree and/or 3+ years of legal experience in a law firm or law department. Familiarity with litigation and rules of civil procedure required. Understanding of arbitration is helpful. Ability to deal professionally and communicate clearly and concisely with clients, attorneys and staff on all levels required. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat required. Familiarity with Net Documents or document management system preferred. Ability: to maintain confidences as well as build confidences and trust with lawyers, peers and clients; to independently organize large amounts of data, both hardcopy and electronic, into an easily retrievable system; to be flexible, handle pressure and adapt to changing work priorities, work flow and work assignments; to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and productivity standards required.
