The San Francisco office of this mid-size firm is engaged primarily in litigation and general business, although the firm boasts a solid regulatory and administrative law practice and a respectable labor/employment practice. The firm has a strong pro bono commitment; associates receive full billable hour credit for approved pro bono work and, overall, pro bono comprises 3-5% of all work. The billable hour target is 1850 and salaries are approximately 20% below market.
Affordable Housing Real Estate Paralegal The candidate will review title, survey, and title commitments and respond to title and survey comments from counterparties. Work directly with the title companies to finalize title policies for transactions. Coordinate with vendors to order various due diligence certificates, corporate and tax searched and arrange for statutory filings. Track transaction tasks and phases and communicate progress to team as issues and/or items are resolved. Assist attorneys in preparation for, and attend, closings Process and organize executed documents and circulate to working groups using various tools. This includes e-mail, Hightail and NetDocuments. Prepare documents for closing/signing. This includes managing, finalizing and ensuring the sets of exhibits are complete. G page packets and coordinate signatures of various deal participants. Create closing indices and binders. Follow up on an extensive array of post-closing items. Conduct research and gather information using general and legal research tools. Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate or appropriate job-related experience required. Minimum 3 years experience as an affordable housing or commercial real estate paralegal with finance experience. Substantial Title and Survey experience. Excellent, organizational, communication, analytical and critical thinking skills. Exceptional drafting, proof-reading and communication skills. Ability to work independently, plan and take initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner with minimum supervision. Must be a team player while effectively and efficiently using firm resources.
