# Litigation Paralegal is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their Paralegal Department in the Houston office. The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for attorney support in the Litigation section. ## Qualifications * Bachelor's degree with 3.0 overall GPA required * Paralegal certificate from ABA approved paralegal program preferred * Notary Certification preferred * At least five years' of significant and substantive litigation experience as a Litigation Paralegal in a large law firm setting preferred * Knowledge of available sources: libraries, courts, schools, companies, other professionals, etc. * Ability to comprehend and interpret content of deposition testimonies * Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Visio, Powerpoint and general database management * Working knowledge and competency with case management software * Proficiency with Document Review Software * Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors * Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm * Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities * Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative * Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs * Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects * Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion * Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills * Ability to lift 40 pounds required ## Responsibilities Law Firm is looking for a Litigation Paralegal who will be responsible for: * Preparation of pleadings: deposition notices; basic petitions (collection actions, forcible detainer); subpoenas; requests for production of documents; interrogatories; request for admissions; motions to compel answers, for substation, for non-suit; orders for judgment; writ of execution, and others * Assisting with the preparation, filing and service of pleadings * Analysis and preparation of all facets of procedure on pleadings in file, and follow up with file review for status and anticipated further discovery procedures * Compile answers to interrogatories and responses to production requests by file review, correspondence and/or interviews with clients, and other outside sources * Experience managing medium to large-scale document productions * Attend to production of documents and be able to summarize same for attorney and file * Has responsibility for document organization and production, including Bates-stamping, redacting, photocopying and indexing of documents, checking copies, setting up and maintaining files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter, stripping files at the close of a case * Knowledge of filing dates and time-tables for various pleadings in various courts, and preparation of a diary system regarding same * Generate, prepare, and organize documentation and forms, and oversee and coordinate court filings including E-filings for state and federal court * Preparation of chronologies, charts, graphs and maps * File creating, monitoring and maintaining, including the use of tickler system and calendar for self and attorney * Take responsibility and initiative for specific action in a file, summarization and/or preparation of pleadings, correspondence, filing, etc. * Create Additional files and coordinate communication between attorneys, other support staff and other Law Firm offices * Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal briefs (trial and appellate) * Selective legal research and shepardizing; interpret, summarize and apply cases * Meetings and interviews with clients, interviewing non-party individuals, identifying and locating potential witnesses including experts, locating individuals and their assets, extensive telephone inquiries * Acting as liaison among all parties including court or other neutrals for scheduling and sharing information * Attend depositions, settlement conferences, judgment debtor exam, and hearings as requested by attorney, and summarize proceedings * Testify at court or administrative proceedings regarding work product * Photography and organization of photographs * Attend and summarize depositions, hearings, meetings and settlement proceedings * Preparation of trial notebooks and files * Preparation of pre-trial pleadings * Preparation of witnesses for trial * Trial activities: attends and assists at trial, which includes: monitoring documents and evidence; assuring presence of witnesses; preparing and monitoring visual aids; taking notes on testimony; tracking of exhibits introduced and marked into evidence; digesting trial transcripts; interacts with witnesses, court clerks, client, vendors, etc. * Coordinate setting up databases with our Electronic Discovery Services Department * Assist and coordinate requests with outside vendors * Other assistance as needed during trial ## Salary and Benefits Law Firm offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including medical/dental/vision/life/and AD&D insurance, 401 (k) savings plan, back-up childcare and eldercare, generous paid time off (PTO), as well as opportunities for professional development and growth.
