Immigration Assistant / Paralegal I The candidate will assist the Senior Paralegals and Attorneys with the management of corporate immigration cases and client interactions. This includes a variety of duties related to legal document preparation and management, research and case management which requires knowledge of the legal system, terminology and procedures in addition to clerical and administrative skills. Prepare immigration cases as assigned by manager for submittal to the appropriate government agency; begin to achieve a mastery of case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s). Demonstrate mastery of multiple case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s). Demonstrate increasing level of independence in handling cases and achieving monthly filing goals. Responsible for working with attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters. Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following the company s service standards. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received from clients. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Practice Manager, Team Manager and/or Attorney. Demonstrate ability to manage a high caseload and work within strict timelines. Monitor the status of all filed applications and petitions. Run reports to assist in managing one s own caseload. Assist with the review of billing protocols and ensure that billing guidelines are met. Evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Provide company contacts with training and guidance regarding the company systems and general immigration matters. Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications. Strong preference for a writing based Bachelors (English Language, Journalism etc). 1+ year of corporate immigration experience in NIV is required to be considered for Paralegal I required. Less than that will be considered for Immigration Assistant. Creates and maintains Access database with revised investor information when updated documents arrive and generate reports. Generates and maintains status chart and generates reports. Maintains executed electronic copies of all governing fund agreements, resolutions, opinions, support certificates, fund tax forms, securities filings, etc. Maintains electronic subscription booklets and related side letters on document management server. Updates subscription booklet materials with revised documents from investors. Updates closing checklist as new fund related documents and agreements are complete. Maintains closing files. Updates subscription booklets. Handles signature page distribution to client. Prepares closing notices including General Partner acceptance pages. Prepares support certificates. Obtains executed opinion. Orders certified copies and good standing certificates. Identifies and resolves problems that arise. Verifies General Partner acceptance pages and distributes closing notices to investors. Runs Blue Sky audit and coordinates with fund attorneys regarding required state securities filings. Prepares and distributes closing book materials for new investors. Prepares final closing book index and assemble and distributes and uploads closing book. Requirements: Experience in one or more areas including M&A, private equity, debt finance, asset finance & securitization, private funds, investment management. 2+ years of corporate paralegal experience with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
