Immigration Case Assistant / Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate provides substantive assistance to attorneys, clients, and staff. Prepares error-free, high quality family-based non-immigrant and immigrant petitions. Prepares supporting documentation for applications and petitions. Interacts with various outside entities, including but not limited to clients, governmental agencies and officials, courts, corporations, and other law firms to gather information. Works independently to determine whether additional tasks not previously assigned by attorneys need to be completed to service clients more efficiently; will convey this information, and follow through appropriately.
The candidate must have 2 years of immigration legal experience including significant experience in preparing error-free, high quality family petitions. Must be an experienced Bilingual (English & Spanish) Bilingual Immigration Case Assistant / Paralegal / Legal Assistant to perform substantive work, including drafting immigration petitions and assisting the attorneys with all aspects of file management. Must be proficient with MS Word, use of the Internet, use of e-mail, and able to quickly learn and utilize other computer applications used by the firm. Should have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills. Detail oriented a must. Must have ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under significant time constraints. Must be a problem solver, willing to work and think with a degree of independence, handle confidential information with discretion, and accept responsibility for producing work that is consistently complete, timely, effective and accurate.
