Draft, review, and file appropriate court pleadings including legal motions, petitions, and briefs; prepare appropriate immigration applications. Participate in training and works closely with staff to draft and implement program protocols, workflow processes, and case-related policies and procedures. Responsible for legal operations consistent with the firm's mission and principles while playing a key role in managing client relationships. Oversee activities and production of the legal team while also working closely with the administrative team. Communicate with third parties, courts, and opposing counsel, delegating to Legal Team when appropriate. Anticipate issues and potential for new business with existing clients; networks as strategized with Firm Owner. Participate in monthly meetings with assigned support staff to collaborate on case strategy and determine case statuses. Report case statuses on a monthly basis to the Firm Owner. Provide excellent customer service while building client rapport and trust. The candidate must have a four-year bachelor's degree and successful completion of law school from an accredited law school; superior academic credentials including a J.D. degree from a U.S. accredited law school, membership in a state bar, excellent computer skills, and 3 years of experience in Immigration and Nationality law; superior writing skills; exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; prior experience representing clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration. Immigration Paralegal (PERM) The candidate will work closely with Attorneys, other Paralegals, the Controller, and Legal Assistants to prepare and file Labor Certifications also known as PERM for corporate and individual clients. Will own the employment-based green card process by focusing primarily on the Labor Certification/PERM including case strategy development, preparation and filing of PERM cases. Handle high volume of PERM cases and move cases to completion timely and efficiently. Learn and be very conversant with the various terminology, transactions, activities, and acronyms used in the daily practice of immigration law specifically as it relates to the employment-based green card process. Interface daily with all Attorneys and support staff to process new inquiries, next steps, goals, etc. for the day and week as it relates to the active and incoming PERM cases. Determine documents and information required for case preparation and obtain these items from clients using standard methods (email, cloud sharing). Review documentation and information received for completeness and accuracy, alerting attorney to any issues discovered. Manage the initial onboarding of PERM cases as assigned by Attorneys including saving documents and updating information in internal and third-party database systems. Communicate with clients regarding information gathering, case preparation and information regarding case. Send reminders to clients regarding demographic data, time sensitive actions, passports and other expiration documents. Work closely with client on determining the job duties, requirements, and advertising strategy to ensure successful and timely preparation of the PERM case. Prepare required government forms and letters for PERM filing. Work closely with attorneys to resolve delay or filing issues timely and efficiently. Manage the case flow independently and own the PERM process start to finish. Must have strong experience in conducting case law, BALCA and DOL research and drafting audit responses.
