Senior Paralegal - Litigation The candidate will handle complex case management of Section 337 cases including filings, discovery, research, Markman hearings, and trial preparation and participation. Perform legal research using various research tools, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, Courtlink, and various public-access websites. Bluebook, shepardize, cite-check and proofread legal documents to ensure proper formatting and compliance with local and federal court rules. Obtain all necessary information and materials from vendors, clients and government agencies such as the USPTO, PAIR, USITC, EDIS, etc. Create, organize, and maintain databases, privilege logs and files containing discovery documents, physical evidence, summaries, deposition transcripts, etc. Assist with paper and electronic discovery process throughout case life cycle, including but not limited to, document collection, tracking, review, and production. Draft, prepare and file briefs and legal documents. Assist with trial preparation: draft trial exhibit lists, manage trial exhibits; prepare trial notebooks; war room set-up; communicate with vendors, expert and fact witnesses, etc. Contributes to the Firm's Service Excellence initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a can do attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person. Must have trial experience with Section 337 cases before the International Trade Commission. Strong knowledge of USPTO and ITC practices and procedures. Knowledgeable of applicable court systems including the judicial processes, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of lead Paralegal assigned to a complex Litigation case. Professional demeanor, exacting attention to detail, and high-quality work standards. Ability to prioritize, perform effectively under pressure and work independently to meet strict deadlines. Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to train and supervise paralegals and/or senior project assistants and project assistants. Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Relativity, LiveNote, CaseMap, TextMap, LexisNexis, Westlaw, Courtlink, Trial Director and managing eDiscovery applications. Ability to learn new technology tools as necessary to support project work. Responsible for the tracking and processing of case related expenses. Ability to work overtime and travel. BA/BS preferred. For positions in California, meets the requirements of the California Business and Professions Code Section 6450-6456. Five to ten years of related experience in ITC, IPL and general litigation proceedings preferred. WilmerHale is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
