The ideal candidate will master using the research tools to which we have access including LexisNexis, WestLaw, S&P Capital IQ Pro, Preqin, and Intelligize as well as searching publicly available information, to find relevant ESG data, and be able not only to perform assigned research tasks but also suggest avenues of additional research appropriate to the particular matter. Review ESG information and documents and organize to facilitate analysis by attorneys and clients, including through the preparation of written summaries, PowerPoint presentations, and indices and creation of DMS and other filing systems. Assist with organizing, tracking, and advising partners on work streams for key clients of the practice, in order to ensure all tasks are completed consistently and on time. Following completion of matters, assist with identifying/preparing, collating, and redacting scopes of work, deliverables, and other key documents that should be included in the practice group's precedent files. Collaborate as needed on other practice development initiatives with the ESG & Impact attorneys and business development team. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher. ESG or sustainability research, and/or other relevant experience preferred. Knowledge of ESG data, trends and risk management is preferred, as is familiarity with ESG rating agencies and data vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, Sustainalytics, MSCI, ISS) and ESG and sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g. SASB, TCFD, UNPRI). Perform legal cite-checking of motions and briefs utilizing the Blue Book and other key cite-checking authorities. Assemble basic drafts of patent disclosures, including but not limited to Proposed Claim Terms & Constructions, Infringement Contentions, Invalidity Contentions, and Claim Construction briefs. Assist with drafting and filing of Inter Partes Review (IPR) and related documents, including but not limited to: Assignments, Powers of Attorney, and Declarations. Draft Response shells, Preliminary Amendments, Missing Parts Response, Petitions, Request for Extensions of Time, Information Disclosure Statements, Notice of Appeal, Issue fees, Requests for corrected documents. Manage a full docket of patent-related deadlines, send timely reminders to clients and attorneys, and ensure that deadlines are handled. Assist attorney team with organization and maintenance of case documents, and routine monitoring of case dockets and patent activity. Assist with depositions, hearing, and trial preparation: assist with pretrial preparation (deposition designations, exhibit and witness lists, organization and management of exhibits, files, trial subpoenas, and other supporting documents). The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of litigation paralegal experience in a large Law Firm, Corporate Legal Department, or Professional Services environment, preferably within an intellectual property litigation practice required. ITC experience, is a plus. Understanding of the litigation life cycle and the timeline of patent disclosures. Familiar with procedural rules including but not limited to Local Rules, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, USPTO Rules, and Patent Local Rules. Experience using Microsoft productivity tools: including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Acrobat Adobe; familiarity and general knowledge of other research tools, such as government agency databases, the internet, and social media sites to obtain required information and documents. Proficient with software including but not limited to document management software/NetDocs, Relativity, Westlaw, Lexis, USPTO Patent Center and Pacer. Knowledge of Intellectual Property Litigation practice-area-specific procedures and terminology. Ability to proofread materials for contextual, grammatical, typographical, or spelling errors. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel, clients, other counsel, and vendors. Assist in preparation for depositions of fact and expert witnesses and attend depositions when needed. Assist with preparation for hearings and trials including managing documents to be used as exhibits, preparing witness binders, coordinating deposition designations, reviewing and organizing materials for use by team attorneys, preparing electronic presentations, and coordinating with litigation support personnel. Coordinate trial set up including all trial work rooms, and resources needed on-site at trial, and coordinate with any vendors used at trial. Provide proactive management of larger cases, including coordination of support efforts and preparation for upcoming events. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements. The candidate should have 5+ years of paralegal or other relevant experience in IP Litigation. Experience with matters before the ITC is preferred. Certification and formal training in an E-Discovery (ACEDS, Relativity, NUIX, etc.), Records Management (ARMA), Information Governance, or Data Privacy areas are preferred. Working knowledge with electronic filing in federal and state court and at the Patent Office for post-grant proceedings. Possesses hands-on experience or training with ESI tools and general knowledge of E-Discovery procedures and resources. Demonstrates proficiency, skills, and knowledge of the position, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and development.
