Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be assisting in the preparation, including cite-checking of legal documents, maintaining files and calendars, and performing general administrative & clerical duties, such as answering phones and assisting with legal filings. Composes, drafts, and edits documents in accordance with the Firm's standards and styles as required. Cite-checks all pleadings and correspondence. Attention to detail, and strictly adhering to The Bluebook's citation guidelines is required. Maintains discovery logs, including by monitoring document productions received and sent. Organizes and prepares exhibits for filings, and assists with legal filings. Assists with document review, summarizing depositions, and trial preparation. Communicates with potential class members about participating in class actions and the settlement claims process. Coordinates attorney appointment and due date calendars, ensuring that all dates are met. Prepares attorneys for hearings, conferences, and depositions. Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to answering the phone, filing, photocopying, faxing and mailing as needed. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues. Assists with special projects as assigned. The candidate should have a College or business school coursework. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program is required. Previous paralegal experience involving civil litigation is required. Prior civil litigation experience is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent grammatical and spelling skills. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and LexisNexis. Experience with PACER, and federal and state court filing systems, including the CM/ECF system. Prior experience with Worldox, Timeslips and trial software such as Trial Director is highly preferred, but not required. Knowledge of eDiscovery and prior experience with document review databases, such as Relativity and Concordance is highly preferred, but not required. Commitment to excellence and high standards. Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Notary public is preferred, but not required. Flexibility to work overtime is required, which often cannot be predicted in advance.
