Immigration Paralegal H1: Immigration Paralegal Opportunity at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP H2: Duties and Responsibilities Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a national law firm, is seeking an Immigration Paralegal to join their team in their Chicago office. This is a full-time employment opportunity and offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package. The Immigration Paralegal will work with attorneys to prepare and file high-quality, specialized documents relating to various immigration matters according to established practices and procedures. Additionally, the Immigration Paralegal will monitor immigration law matters. This position will work directly with clients and collaboratively with attorneys and secretaries on our immigration team. The duties and responsibilities of the Immigration Paralegal include: Preparing communications to clients and government agencies Identifying and evaluating troublesome and complex issues and providing strategies to resolve them Collecting and organizing client information related to the filing of petitions and applications such as H-1B, L-1, TN, PERM, I-130, I-140, I-485, I-765, I-131, N-400, DS-160, and DS-260 Assisting with drafting and filing petitions and applications with government agencies Performing necessary background and investigative research related to filing of petitions and applications Initiating contact with government agencies to obtain necessary and relevant information related to the filing of petitions and applications Reviewing and tracking status of all filed petitions and applications Providing status updates to clients and attorneys Docketing filing dates and deadlines for responses and monitoring for timeliness H2: Qualifications and Prior Experience The qualifications and prior experience required for the Immigration Paralegal position include: Bachelor's degree (preferred) Five (5) or more years of immigration paralegal experience (ideally in a law firm environment) Strong knowledge in the area of immigration law Experience preparing immigration petition and applications such as H-1B, L-1, TN, PERM, I-130, I-140, I-485, I-765, I-131, N-400, DS-160, and DS-260 Superior analytical and writing skills Familiarity with LollyLaw and/or similar immigration forms and case management software Working knowledge of internet, Excel and Microsoft Word software Strong written and verbal communication skills Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail Looks for ways to improve and promote quality Synthesizes complex or diverse information Takes independent actions and calculated risks; asks for help when needed Follows instructions, responds to management direction; commits to additional hours of work when necessary to reach goals Balances team and individual responsibilities; contributes to building a positive team environment Maintains confidentiality Acts as a case manager, moving the matter along, anticipating next steps and proactively discussing same with attorneys Salary Range: N/A Workplace Type: Hybrid Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and requires all employees whose work requires them to be in the office to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
