Senior Investment Management Paralegal Duties: Assists with the drafting and shows high-level understanding of various regulatory and organizational fund documents such as registration statements, shareholder reports, and annual disclosure updates by creating prospectus or statement of additional information shells, risk matrices, or ancillary documents to accompany filings (facing sheets, Part Cs, etc.). Drafts, edits and prepares board meeting agendas, minutes and compilation of board materials. Actively mentors more junior paralegals and attorneys; recognizes different learning styles and adjusts method of instruction accordingly when supervising on projects; confirms comprehension by others of instruction. Assists in the creation of training materials and other resources for paralegal group and firm in their designated practice area. The candidate will have a bachelor's degree or an associate s degree in paralegal studies. 7+ years' experience as a paralegal supporting investment management or mutual fund s is required. The position will involve significant contact with lawyers and paralegals at the firm and requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be a demonstrated self-starter who is both highly organized and a team player. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm s internal and personnel affairs. Preparing US federal and state trademark registration application documents; draft trademark goods/services specifications. Preparing, review, and oversee trademark filings to the United States Patent and Trademark Office through issuance of trademark. Preparing inquiries to and responses from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Assisting with trademark analysis including ability to review, investigate results and summarize trademark full searches. Drafting letters to clients regarding trademark information. Utilizing on-line trademark database and conduct trademark clearance searches. Perform file organization and maintenance. Maintaining up-to-date time reports to ensure accurate client billing. Performing due diligence ownership searches on trademarks, copyrights and domain names to assist corporate department with Mergers and Equitation security agreements. The candidate should have Bachelors Degree. Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited paralegal program is preferred. Familiar with Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) filing requirements and be able to assist in all aspects of TTAB proceedings are asset. Computer proficient with experience and working knowledge of Westlaw and other intellectual property-related databases including Serion and Corsearch, Internet research, due diligence, Excel, Outlook and MS Word preferred. Must be proficient in trademark docketing databases and experience with Foundation IP is essential. Using e-discovery tools, manage document productions and creation of privilege logs. Proofread and format briefs and filings, including checking citations to the record and legal authority, preparing tables of contents and tables of authorities. Prepare summaries and analyses of documents and data using Excel or other tools. Prepare witness files, abstracts of transcripts, and/or exhibits for briefs, depositions, trials, and other hearings. Provide support as needed for trials and hearings. Legal and factual research and writing, including correspondence, briefs, discovery responses, and other legal documents. Assist in improving the Firm s litigation support workflows and practices and provide training and continuing education for all attorneys on e-discovery and related matters. Other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal Certificate. 5+ years of experience as litigation Paralegal. Familiarity with labor & employment and education matters strongly preferred. Experience with litigation procedures (including trial procedures) in federal and Illinois state courts. Excellent organization and project management skills. Experience with electronic discovery platforms such as Summation, Concordance, CaseLogistix, Relativity, or iPro. Advanced knowledge of electronic research tools (e.g., Westlaw) and public records resources. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Adobe Acrobat. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to maintain strict confidentiality of client information. Able to learn new skills as technology changes.
