Pre-Litigation Paralegal Duties: Conducting initial client intake by phone, text, email, or in-person. Scheduling meetings/conference calls for attorneys. Meeting with clients. Translating for attorneys in meetings/calls with Spanish-speaking potential or actual clients. Requesting police reports and insurance policy traces. Assisting clients in finding medical providers. Following up with clients and medical providers regarding the client's treatment. Providing clients with status updates regarding their respective cases. Providing customer service. Communicating with other members of the firm on pertinent treatment status of clients and any other issues brought to legal assistants attention by the client, medical provider, or any other third party. Maintaining and updating databases, preparing and filing documents with various courts. Analyzing and creating correspondence and other documents. Organizing and storing documents within document storage software. Copying, faxing, scanning, and mailing documents. Billing, and contacting, and following up with clients, court personnel, insurance companies, opposing attorneys and their staff, and other third parties. Responsibly handle highly confidential legal documents and information in a discrete and confidential manner. Qualifications: Must have a High School diploma and some college experience. Prior Personal Injury Law Firm Experience required. Experience and familiarity with personal injury client software are required. Computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are required. Should preferably be bilingual (English and Spanish). Must be able to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with all of the clients, many of whom are Spanish-speaking only. Must be able to draft and manage phone messages, voicemails, emails, and other correspondences, and provide updates verbally and in writing, including through client management software, to all members of the firm. The ability to conduct multiple and diversified clerical support functions at the same time is necessary. Having great oral and written communication and interpersonal skills is needed. A positive attitude and energy level with the ability to maintain a calm, pleasant, and professional demeanor under pressure and in the face of potentially stressed clients and opposing attorneys and their staff is ideal. Attitude and ability to make sure things get done and are figured out regardless of whether the situation is one faced before or new and unique is needed. Must be reliable, dependable, and timely.
