Litigation Paralegal Duties: Provides paralegal and administrative assistance for the Litigation department on litigation cases including: elder law (will, trust, and conservator/guardian litigation; probate/estate) litigation, personal injury cases, etc.; preparation of client letters; drafting documents; management and follow-up of all Litigation client files; and assists with the everyday functions of the Litigation Department. Sole responsibility for assigned Litigation files including: review of files, analyze & summarize facts; prepare Excel spreadsheet on dates, facts and analysis; transcribe dictation. Supervise Litigation assistant. Support attorneys in the Litigation department. Gather and collect information and documentation in preparation of documents, etc. Complete initial drafts of Complaints, Petitions, Discovery and other Litigation related documents. Obtain and verify receipt of medical records/court documents/3rd party documents. Conduct weekly review and follow up on all Litigation assigned files. Oversee and follow up on Litigation Calendar system on all assigned files. Draft Orders, Notice of Hearings and Notice of Filing Orders. Copy and send same to all interested parties and file with the court. Draft letters to physicians and follow up on obtaining information/documents/opinions. Organize and prepare file for hearings/trial.
Candidates will have a Paralegal certificate and 3 5 years Litigation experience; drafting/knowledge of probate/conservatorship litigation documents preferred, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, simple Wills and real estate documents preferred. Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with PracticeMaster and Worldox helpful. Will have sharp analytical and organizational skills, strong computer skills, attention to detail, ability to work proactively, multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
