Associate Paralegal Litigation Duties: Under general supervision, assists management, attorneys and other paralegals by providing legal support services, which may include the day-to-day coordination of legal-related activities. Assists in performing legal research which may include automated research services and other methods and prepares responses. Assists in the review of legal documents and may act as administrator for document control on due diligence and other matters. Works with internal and external legal and claims staff on various projects. Includes preparing responses, conducting and analyzing research and gathering information from clients and others. May include pre-discovery interviews and other preparation for due diligence or other matters. May assist in drafting and preparing written documents including correspondence, pleadings, motions and filings. May assist in drafting discovery summaries and preparing responses to discovery requests. Assists in preparing chronologies and summarizes medical records or other records as needed. May monitor subrogation and other files. Assists in gathering and organizing exhibits, documents, trial data and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgment, etc. May arrange for extensions of time as needed. Escalates issues requiring attorney involvement as required. Keeps current with procedures used by local, state and federal courts. May assist in retention of expert witnesses. May periodically attend trials to monitor case progress, witness results, etc. and reviews status of trial with attorneys and management. May perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Associate's degree and/or completion of an accredited paralegal program or equivalent experience. 2+ years' experience in a related legal administrative environment. Prior law office and litigation experience with tort and personal injury matters preferred. Knowledge of law office operations. Knowledge and application of legal research tools as well as overall general knowledge of civil procedure and substantive law of jurisdiction. Strong internal/external customer interactive skills. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and other business related software systems. Excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks. Solid written and verbal communication skills including professional phone etiquette and the ability to draft complex written correspondence. Acts with a sense of urgency to advance priorities of the organization.
