Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Investigates and originates interesting and important cases, typically serves as lead or co-lead class counsel, and works collaboratively in the office and with co-counsel to push cases aggressively through discovery, briefing, and trial. Responsible for helping us from the inception of a case to the final distribution of funds to class members. Prepare pleadings and other filings and correspondence, cite-check, use the Blue Book, perform filing services, calendar deadlines and help keep the team on track, conduct document searches, prepare materials for production, organize and coordinate document reviews, help with legal research, prepare materials for oral arguments, work as part of trial teams in the lead-up to and at trial, assist in settlement and post-settlement allocation and distribution work, and in general be a core part of the case team. May be asked to help with administrative functions from time to time to help the team.
Qualifications: Ability to work independently, be resourceful, organize and prioritize workload, and adapt to changing priorities. Results-oriented, self-starter, with a high level of initiative. Ability to shift focus, perform under tight deadlines, and maintain patience in high pressure situations. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal and written communication skills including spelling, grammar and proofreading skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), and Adobe. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Must manage highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity. Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new skills and contribute to office and projects in new ways. Bonus of paralegal certificate, prior litigation paralegal experience, and/or knowledge of federal court rules and procedures, federal ECF system, Westlaw/LexisNexis, Blue Booking, etc.
