Real Estate Paralegal The candidate, under the direction of the real estate attorneys, will assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. Will order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies. Prepare and administer contract critical dates and closing checklists. Coordinate assistance with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents. Attend all post-closing requirements, including preparation of closing indices, the preparation and organization of closing binders, and monitoring all post-closing deliveries or requirements. Prepare clear and concise correspondence and memorandum. Prepare initial draft documents, amendments to agreements or leases and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs and Memos of Lease, for attorney review. Order UCC lien and other searches. The candidate should have Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate. Must have 5 years of prior experience in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. Law firm and in-house experience will be considered. Knowledge of formation of entities and review of organizational and authority documents is required. Must have excellent legal research skills, including knowledge of electronic databases. Should have proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar email/calendar technology. Knowledge of relevant databases essential. Strong writing, organizational and communication skills are required. Extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology is a must. Assess the extent to which learners achieve end-of-training objectives; identify any competency deficiencies and address training issues and needs with Manager of IP Training and Paralegal Managers. Keep apprised of new trends and updates at the USPTO to ensure efficient delivery of material content and topics to support staff which includes reviewing USPTO alerts, IP related blogs and/or working with a representative of the PTO Practice Committee. Work with Paralegal Managers to keep apprised of any changes to laws or rules of practice. Create strategic partnerships with appropriate Firm departments and practice groups to ensure that training goals are met, information is developed, communicated, and implemented in compliance with Firm objectives. Continuously work to improve training services. Analyze complex user problems, evaluates alternatives, and devises efficient, cost-effective user-friendly solutions. Establish and maintain credibility through personal conduct, social practices, demonstration of content expertise, and professionalism. Serve as backup to the training team members as needed. Maintain the functionality, appearance, and schedule of the Training Room. Assist with the assessment, testing, and implementation of new software as needed. The candidate should have Bachelor's Degree. 5 years administrative or legal experience in the area of intellectual property is required. Experience working in a law firm is preferable. Should have a demonstrated level of comfort in a professional teaching/training role including the ability to interpret needs and respond within established guidelines with minimal supervision. Substantial intellectual property and technical expertise is required. Abilities: Ability to understand, implement, and/or utilize practice-oriented software (DeskSite, Elite, Windows based operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to learn, retain, and apply policies and procedures various circumstances. Ability to work with a team, which may involve cross training to provide similar support services to other functional areas in the department.
