Litigation Legal Secretary Duties: Preparation of legal documents and correspondence from draft and edits to final form. Assist in all aspects of litigation including doing state and federal court filings, including e-filings. Enter and maintain dates for hearings, depositions and other court related deadlines using Outlook calendars to schedule other appointments and meetings. Compose materials such as correspondence, discovery, pleadings, briefs, petitions and general administrative forms. Answer phones, prepare and follow up on matters relating to document preparation and time keeping/billing. Assist with client engagement and retention including preparation of engagement letter, conflict check and submitting into accounting system. Qualifications: 5+ years of law firm experience required, supporting 3+ attorneys in a mid-size firm. Advanced skills in Word 2013 or higher (using styles, generating TOC, track changes, document comparison) and Outlook; basic proficiency in Excel. Experience with the following software highly preferred: NetDocs, Best Authority, Adobe Acrobat Pro. Knowledge of and experience with federal and state court systems including federal e-filing and state court online filing systems. Exceptional grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills. Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures. Practical knowledge of client billing.
