Senior Litigation Paralegal The candidate will provide moderately complex litigation support tasks in assisting attorneys with preparations for hearings, mediations, depositions and trials and will manage case files independently from filing of the answer to conclusion of the case at trial. should have 5 years experience in a hands-on litigation paralegal role and must have experience with document review, trial preparation, handling discovery, drafting legal documents, and managing case documents. Prepare initial drafts of agreed judgements, letters to opposing counsel, and various notices and motions for attorney review; assist attorneys with drafting and cite checking legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, motions, subpoenas, and discovery. Ability to prepare initial substantive drafts of pleadings and discovery documents (not just shells) for attorney review is essential. Review incoming materials and determine need for assembly and preparation of legal documents such as complaints, motions, orders, answers, notices, pleadings and subpoenas. Provide initial review and comments on points of law involved in cases through research and analysis of position statements, case documents and records; isolate facts pertinent to legal issues in cases, and prepare summaries and develop recommendations for attorney review. Investigate case facts and prepare chronologies for cases. Prepare large document productions; sometimes manage outside vendors on occasionally outsourced projects. Communicate with clients, opposing counsels and court personnel on case matters, including scheduling depositions. Assist attorneys with discovery phase, including discovery requests, issuing subpoenas, and preparing for depositions; prepare discovery motions and responses to discovery requests; compile, organize and index various discovery and evidence exhibits for trial and witness testimony; prepare exhibits and attorney notebooks; make note of deficiencies in case materials for attorney review. Maintain calendar of assigned cases; inform attorneys of pending dates and deadlines; monitor progress of pending cases and initiate action to ensure legal pleadings, forms, reports, correspondence and other documents are prepared and submitted within deadlines. Must have excellent legal drafting, writing and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and litigation document software is required.
