Submission of IRS filings, including 83(b) elections, 8822-B Change of Address/Change of Responsible Party, 2553 elections (where applicable). Generate Excel investor signature trackers. Coordinate with clients and attorneys on document distribution and signature collection strategies. Collect signatures via DocuSign, using individual envelopes and also using DocuSign's Templates and Bulk Send functions for mass distribution, and DocuSign's Conditional Logic functionality for investor accreditation. Coordinate with signers to answer questions relating to DocuSign and investor accreditation. Assist attorneys with occasional cloud-based document management platform issues, including installation, configuration and integration issues (primarily with Outlook and WorkShare). Residual post-implementation of cloud-based document management platform file organization. Word drafting and cleanup, including stripping documents, applying headings, styles, and outlines, and generating cross-references and TOCs. Proofreading. E-filing. Paralegal - Bankruptcy Duties: Drafts shell/non-substantive notices, motions, affidavits, orders, briefs, and other court filings based on past precedent and drafts bankruptcy petitions. Uses Pacer, Relativity, and other bankruptcy and litigation management resources. Pulls cases on Westlaw and Lexis and cite-checks - "Blue booking". Monitors dockets for relevant pleadings, conducts docket searches and pulls and organizes docket filings. Prepares attorneys for hearings, including organizing exhibits and preparing hearing binders. Files documents with the courts. Prepares fee applications. Reviews conflicts information and summarizes for attorney review. Prepares and files proofs of claim. Monitors dockets for committee formations. Monitors various resources for distressed portfolio companies. Identifies opportunities for attendance and sponsorship of restructuring events. Prepares and coordinates business development opportunities. Works proactively and efficiently to support attorneys in case management. Billable hour requirement is 1650 hours. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred. Paralegal Certificate preferred. 5+ years of experience and a strong background in commercial bankruptcy required, preferably in a law firm environment. Strong demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, the legal process, electronic case filing, and electronic research technology (LexisNexis, Westlaw, Internet, etc.).
