Paralegal/Legal assistant (Litigation) Responsibilities: Communicating with vendors, outside attorneys and clients, primarily by phone and email. Respond to inquiries and requests. Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court. Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices. Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests. Prepare, organize, and file documents and correspondence internally. Prepare and file court documents (paper and through PACER). Update and maintain internal databases. Prepare witness and matter materials. Prepare and organize exhibits for depositions. Prepare and file court documents. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; a Paralegal Certificate or higher education preferred. 3-5 years' relevant experience (preferably a law firm). Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint and Excel), pdf software and Outlook. Proficiency using CM/ECF, USPTO and other government electronic filing systems. Knowledge of Westlaw and other research and law practice applications. Understanding of real estate titles. Strong attention to detail and organized. Ability to project a professional image and interact with clients and legal and professional staff. Ability to research and analyze data. Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capability to work well independently as well as in a team environment. Provide excellent customer service, together with a professional phone manner. Aptitude to be cautious with sensitive information. Always willing to learn new skills and take the initiative to further understand processes and make recommendations for efficient changes.
