Litigation Paralegal Duties: Track and maintain deadlines and case hearings on calendar. Maintain case files on case management system. Draft discovery requests and responses. Prepare and file probate and conservative documents. Draft and proofread motions and pleadings. Knowledge of Code of Civil Procedure, Probate Rules (a plus!) and local civil and probate rules. Trial Preparation (including drafting complaints, motions and putting together trial binders). Correspond with client by email, phone and case management system. Keep attorney informed of new information and case status. Requirements: Paralegal Certificate preferred. 3+ years of experience in civil litigation OR probate litigation (with willingness to learn trust and estates). Experience with local filing procedures, e-filing, California Rules of Court and Judicial Council Forms. Proficient researcher (comfortable with searching case law, statutory law/codes and practice procedures in order to meet procedural requirements). Conservatorship experience preferred. Must have experience/be familiar with Code of Civil Procedure. Participation in contested evidentiary hearings/trial strongly preferred. Must be a Self-Starter. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must be proactive with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Able to work as a team player as well as autonomously. Ability to interact with clients with empathy and positivity. Excellent time management skills to meet multiple deadlines. Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple matters concurrently. Able to follow detailed instructions. Proficiency with Microsoft Word. Adobe, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and legal case management systems.
