Litigation Paralegal Duties: Review, organize, and index documents, records and other information according to instructions. Conduct routine factual research online. Demonstrate excellent file management skills. Prepare litigation timelines and other factual summaries. Prepare deposition outlines for use by attorneys. Prepare and coordinate service of documents and/or witness subpoenas. Prepare witness notebooks or other notebooks for use by attorneys at depositions, hearings and trials. Draft basic litigation documents: Notice of Appearance, Notice of Motion, Notice of Entry, etc. Conduct basic research using PACER, NYSCEF, NJ eCourts, Lexis Nexis, and CourtAlert. Assist in trial preparation, exhibits, logistics and witness coordination and attend trial if needed. Qualifications: A four-year degree plus a Paralegal Certificate (ABA-approved preferred) and 3+ years' Litigation experience, preferably in a professional law firm setting or a combination of education and experience. Knowledge of CM/ECF, NYSCEF and NJ eCourts electronic filing procedures preferred. Knowledge of the New York State Court Rules (CPLR), Local Federal Court Rules (SDNY & EDNY) and New Jersey State Court Rules preferred. Demonstrate working knowledge of federal and state court rules, filing fees, witness fees, and related requirements; including electronic filing requirements and procedures. Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop skills. Demonstrates a can do attitude and initiative to assist on a variety of projects. Ability and willingness to work within a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys, staff, team members and management while providing information with courtesy and tact both verbal and written. Ability to compose, proofread and edit (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling) routine internal communications. Ability to multi-task, work independently with minimal supervision, work under pressure with high-quality results. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy of work-product. Strong analytical skills. Ability to search various websites, including internal sites in order to locate information to maintain accurate information in the firm s various software applications associated with IP.
