Litigation Paralegal Duties: Conducts legal research and summarizes information and presents findings to attorneys. Analyzes, compiles, and summarizes information on statutes, ordinances, legal decisions, opinions, rulings, memoranda, or other legal material for internal use. Examines documents to assure completeness of information and conformance with pertinent laws, rules, regulations, and precedents. Prepares drafts of pleadings and other legal documents (Complaints, Answers, Motions, Interrogatories, Requests for Production, Notices of Deposition, Briefs and legal memoranda, Discovery Responses, etc.). Oversees discovery phase (calendaring discovery requests and responses, summarizes depositions, interrogatories, and testimony for review by attorney, manages production of documents, reviews incoming document productions, etc.). Assists Attorneys in preparation for and at depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial, including preparing notebooks, exhibits, witness and exhibit lists, scheduling witnesses, etc. Conducts factual investigations and prepares chronologies of facts for use by attorney in depositions, discovery, evaluation, motions and trial. Obtains, researches and summarizes medical records related to disability claims and damages. Enters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner. Requirements: Paralegal certification / degree from accredited college or university preferred. 5+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practice. Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, Litigation Support software such as Relativity, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems. Able to operate multi-line phone, calculator, cell phone, copier, fax, scanner. Must possess superior analytical skills with the ability to mine and collect data for cases. Must be willing to commit to additional hours when necessary to reach Firm objectives.
