Litigation Paralegal The candidate will work in the Chicago office handling primarily toxic tort cases and some medical device litigation. The litigation paralegal will perform a broad range of case related duties under the supervision of partnership as outlined below. Supporting 2-3 partners. Monitoring cases and track court and discovery deadlines. Overseeing requests for medical records; contact physicians and medical facilities. Analyzing medical records and prepare summaries. Assisting with preparation of discovery, pleadings, and motions. Electronic filing in federal and state courts. Drafting and updating client reports. Reviewing deposition transcripts. Corresponding with clients, opposing counsel, and court clerks. Assisting with trial preparation including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness files, deposition transcripts, etc. Legal research. Bachelor's Degree. Paralegal Certificate (ABA accredited). 2+ years of litigation experience, previous experience in asbestos litigation preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience using docket search databases (PACER, LexisNexis, Pohlman, Westlaw etc). must be detail oriented, have superior communication, organizational, computer and client service skills, and be able to multi-task. The candidate must also possess excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and the desire to take initiative.
