Litigation Paralegal Duties: Handle high volume civil litigation cases, primarily involving high-value, catastrophic personal injuries; Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents (complaints, motions, ex parte applications, etc.) with state and federal court; Assist in drafting pleadings, notices (deposition, and otherwise), and propounding and responding to discovery; Draft and process incoming and outgoing correspondence; Provide administrative assistance to attorneys, including managing calendars and deadlines; Act as a liaison among all parties including court or other neutrals for scheduling and sharing information; Schedule, confirm and assist attorneys in preparation for depositions; Prepare materials for review by expert witnesses and consultants; Research case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources; Assist in preparing for court proceedings, including, but not limited to, mediation, arbitration, and trial (must be proficient with preparing trial binders as required by Los Angeles PI Hub General Orders) and maintaining communication with clients, experts, and witnesses; Organize and maintain electronic case files within the company software/case management system (experience and knowledge of Smart Advocate software a plus). Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate and bachelor's degree or 5+ years of litigation experience; Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; Knowledgeable of procedural rules, including Code of Civil Procedure and California Court Rules. Professional and courteous to clients and staff; Detail oriented, team-player, positive, energetic, kind, well-spoken with excellent customer service skills; Perform well in a high level fast-paced environment with minimal supervision; Skilled with computers and software as well as organized; Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook, Word), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and typing speed over 60 WPM; Demonstrate good ethics, judgment and maintain the confidentiality of files.
