Legal Secretary (Patent) The candidate will provide exceptional, detail-oriented skills in reviewing and proofreading correspondence and documents to be filed with the USPTO and WIPO and outgoing correspondence to clients and foreign associates. Prepare/review and file transmittals, Application Data Sheets, patent applications, drawings and other responses with the USPTO and WIPO. Provide assistance with the completion of formality requirements for national phase filings, including working with a paralegal to obtain legalized documents, powers of attorney and assignments. Review and maintain a docket to ensure timely reporting of communications to the client and foreign associates. Update IP portfolio family and status reports. Provide information to IP Docketing Department for items filed with and received from USPTO, WIPO, to and from foreign associates; update files, docketing system, and client information database. Other duties as assigned to fully meet with requirements of this position. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree or some college preferred. Should have 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication and language skills. Proactive and efficient in managing dockets, correspondence and patent filings. Current knowledge of E-filings with USPTO. Current knowledge of PTO rules and procedures. Ability to multi-task and shift priorities successfully. Excellent organizational abilities. Ability to meet deadlines and effectively juggle multiple priorities. Strong service orientation. Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and use both good judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters. Hardware / Software expected knowledge of Patent Secretary: advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
