This firm is on the large side of the medium firms. Approximately 1:1 partner associate ratio keeps most of the lawyers here fairly busy in all of their full service practice areas, with a special emphasis on intellectual property and employment litigation. Decidely not a firm who cares to spend a lot of time discussing quality of life, how does this financial district firm boast the low attrition rate? Simply, the firm makes sure that the associates have the kind and type of work they want, with fairly competitive salaries. Don't bother looking for the partners to talk the talk about associate satisfaction, it's not their style. But virtually ignoring these issues has done well for the firm--and its associates.

The Patent and IDS Paralegal will manage the review of patent families; prepare formal documents, including the IDS letter, IDS citation forms, and submission of foreign and non-patent literature references; submit the documents for attorney review; and file the documents with the USPTO. Once filed, the Patent and IDS Paralegal will work alongside attorneys, foreign associates, and the Docketing Department to track, clear, and report on deadlines, including responding to client, attorney, foreign associates, and Docketing inquiries as to status. This position will also be tasked with interesting and diverse U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and portfolio management duties as time allows. Should have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common reports and legal documents and the ability to effectively present information in both written and verbal form to all levels of individuals in the Firm, clients, foreign associates, and USPTO personnel and foreign counterparts. This role also includes management and execution of special billable projects as assigned. Must exhibit excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize workload and thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality work product. 3 years patent experience is required. Thorough knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures related to the filing of IDS is required. Experience with CPI and/or Foundation IP is highly preferred.
