Answer telephone calls, transfer calls to the appropriate staff and take messages in their absence. Maintain attorney s docket and monitor deadlines. Daily mailing and filing responsibilities. Photocopy and collate documents for mailings. Compile and prepare reports and presentations. The candidate should have a minimum of two to three(2-3) years law firm paralegal experience in the patent field. Experience in both US and foreign prosecution preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of US and foreign patent prosecution procedures. Comprehensive knowledge in the preparation of IP documents. Comprehensive knowledge of effective proofreading techniques. Correspond with clients and work with Firm s library department to collect materials needed in connection with duty of disclosure. Develop and maintain knowledge of patent office rules and procedures in connection with U.S. and foreign duty of disclosure and other areas of patent prosecution. Assist with additional patent prosecution related projects. Meet the department s expectation for billable hours and adhere to best practice for daily time entry. Perform additional patent prosecution related projects. The candidate should have a Bachelors or Master s Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Must possess exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Prior experience conducting literature and/or patent database searches a plus. Knowledge of Dialog, STN, GenomeQuest, and/or PatBase a plus. Must be able to communicate in a professional, tactful and confident manner. Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Must be a strong critical thinker with demonstrated ability to work independently and to proactively and effectively solve problems. Must be a strong team contributor.
