Litigation Paralegal The candidate is responsible for assisting attorneys with arbitration and litigation cases. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience assisting supporting 1 to 2 litigation attorneys, prior experience with e-filing, answering and issuing discovery requests, issuing subpoenas and summons, and assisting attorneys in arbitration proceedings. E-Filing pleadings, motions, and other documents. Answering and issuing discovery requests. Client communication, including gathering documents and information for discovery compliance and speaking with clients regarding general case progress/status and client treatment status. Issuing subpoenas, summons, etc. as needed during litigation, from the time a lawsuit is filed through trial. Scheduling discovery and evidence depositions. Coordinating court reporting and videographer services. Assisting attorneys with arbitration proceedings, including drafting arbitration submissions and scheduling sworn statements. Requesting medical records and bills, as well as confirming lien amounts. Docketing court orders, dates, etc. Keeping files updated and organized. Meeting deadlines. Sending legal documents to other personnel in a timely manner (i.e. the date attested to on the subject document). Prior experience supporting 1 to 2 litigation attorneys is needed. Prior experience within Cook County Law Division, 1st Municipal Division, collar counties, and Federal Court is required. Prior experience e-filing various documents are needed. Prior experience answering and issuing discovery requests, as well as issuing subpoenas and summons is essential. Prior experience assisting in arbitration proceedings is needed. Effective communication skills are essential. Should be able to work well with others. Should be able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Computer and database expertise is needed. Functional skills in reading and writing English are needed. Should be highly organized. Strong writing and communication skills are needed. Attention to detail is needed. Should have the ability to work in several programs at more than one time. High energy is needed. Should have a mature ability to use judgment and be dependable.
