Litigation Paralegal The candidate will assist with a variety of complex ITC, federal and superior court cases from start to finish. Assist the post-grant group with PTAB filings, research and case management as needed. Maintain case-related docketing of appearances and deadlines. Coordinate with attorneys and eDiscovery vendors to create and manage electronic databases, including loading, culling, searching, reviewing, tagging, coding, and generating productions and privilege logs. Assist with the mechanics of paper & electronic discovery, including litigation holds, data mapping, custodian interviews, chains of custody, document collections, document reviews, and productions. Prepare court filings, including factual and legal cite-checking, and compilation of exhibits & appendices. Perform electronic filing with various courts and agencies. Communicate professionally, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, counsel, clients, agencies, witnesses, opposing parties, court personnel, and vendors. Prepare for depositions, hearings and trials, including the management of exhibits, notebooks, witness binders, courtroom and war room setup (attendance and travel may be required). Conduct factual and legal research, compiling results in an organized and succinct manner. Draft correspondence, basic pleadings, and motions. Assist with mentoring, training and supervising of more junior litigation paralegals and temporary staff as needed. Assist other paralegals within the group. Maintain a billing goal of 1400 hours annually. Complete tasks/projects/other responsibilities as firm needs dictate, including administrative tasks, pro bono matters, client development projects and assisting with projects from other departments. The candidate should have 3-6 years of experience as a litigation paralegal working on complex litigation, with trial experience preferred. Bachelor s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Knowledge of the IP litigation process, with additional ITC and PTAB experience, is preferred. High proficiency in managing electronic discovery databases, such as Relativity. Proficiency in Case Notebook (or LiveNote), Westlaw, Pacer, Bluebook citation, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FTP services and other litigation-specific software. Interest in and affinity for learning litigation-related technology. Familiarity with the court and agency jurisdictional rules & procedures, including individual Judges practices. Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate information, workflow, and project updates. Detail-oriented, with strong time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a deadline-oriented environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and effectively with a team. Flexible and capable of responding calmly and effectively in stressful situations. Punctual and reliable and able to meet set deadlines and work effectively under pressure. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of matters and other firm business information.
