Litigation Paralegal (temp) Duties: Adherence to all administrative deadlines, including weekly E-Signer updates to workload and status of availability, time entry deadlines in Aderant set by the firm or manager, time sheet deadlines in iEmployee set by the firm or manager, and entry of time away from the office in Sharepoint paralegal department calendar; Timely completion of all goals as discussed with manager and drafted in the Performance Management evaluation process; Regularly check e-mail when away from the office for assignment notifications from manager and case related communications from attorneys; Meet all billable requirements as set by the Department; Take responsibility for entering and/or checking and maintaining accurate case deadlines in BEC Legal; Inform manager of all trials and arbitrations as soon as dates are set; Ensure that all hard copy files are kept in file cabinets, case rooms, cubicles or with the Records Department. No hard copy files are to be stored in hallways or other common areas in the firm. Organize and maintain large case files; Draft routine correspondence and pleadings as necessary; Assist with preparation and filing of all components of various motions; Independently perform electronic case filings (ECF) and hard copy filings with the Court; File electronic documents in FileSite pursuant to the firm s protocol for Case Management (CM); Support attorneys and paralegals utilizing litigation support applications; collaborate with Practice Support and Knowledge and Resource Services departments on related projects; Maintain case specific daily and weekly calendar reports for attorneys; Construct chronology of facts, summaries and timelines; Assist with preparation and service of all forms of discovery requests and responses; Summarize documents responsive to discovery requests and create production charts; Arrange for set-up and maintenance of case management and document management databases; Work with case teams to coordinate document reviews, including privilege document reviews; Assist attorneys with preparation for depositions; Attend and take notes at depositions; summarize/digest depositions; Take responsibility for all arrangements with outside vendors and processing of invoices; Work on logistics and other support projects in preparation for and in connection with trials and arbitrations, including, prepare and serve trial subpoenas, organize and mark trial exhibits, prepare witness binders, demonstratives, exhibits and trial notebooks; Assist trial/arbitration teams with all aspects of post-trial, appellate and settlement projects. Qualifications: Bachelor s degree required; 3 - 5 years of experience in a law firm setting; Ability to obtain information from a variety of resources and perform other basic legal research requests; Ability to effectively communicate with peers and professional staff both verbally and in writing; Capable of functioning both independently and collaboratively within a team environment; Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to use discretion, good judgment and problem solving skills; Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks, producing quality work within allotted time period; Ability to remain current with available technology, utilizing it to its full advantage; display willingness to participate in ongoing training; Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Eclipse, Relativity, Case Notebook, Adobe Professional, TrialDirector, FileSite and other systems available at the firm, and ability to readily learn to operate similar litigation support applications and document management systems as needed. Highly developed in practice area as pertains to changes in the law and legal technology; Thorough familiarity with internal procedures including opening case files, file maintenance, docket reminders, accounting, billing, office services, etc.; Demonstrated competence in basic Internet searching or ability to obtain information from Court and Judicial websites.
