Litigation Paralegal (Professional Liability) Duties: Proactively assisting attorneys with all aspects of the litigation process from case inception through trial and appeal process. Overseeing overall case file maintenance, requesting and maintaining records, including indexing and filing case materials, following up on outstanding matters. Assisting attorneys with all phases of discovery, including first draft responses to discovery as directed and issuing subpoenas. Coordinating travel arrangements for trial if needed. Managing and organizing large volumes of documents including hard copy and electronic files. Maintaining a master set of all documents, keeping medical records and correspondence files as well as preparing electronic files. Verifying, updating and summarizing medical bills. Organizing, researching and manager relationships with expert witnesses and maintain associated database. Assist with facilitating successful settlement processes. Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program required. 3-7 years of litigation experience required. Prior medical malpractice, personal injury and/or products liability legal experience preferred. Candidates should also possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills. All potential candidates should have previous experience performing the following tasks: drafting correspondence and pleadings; assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediation, trial; document management; knowledge of court rules; proficiency in e-filing (state and federal); calendaring and docketing; and research skills. Experience creating and modifying PowerPoint presentations. Each candidate must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time and be willing to work overtime if necessary Familiarity with medical terminology.
