Immigration Paralegal The candidate will do a case review, prepare drafts, and file final employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions. The Immigration Paralegal must be able to successfully multi-task in a deadline-driven environment. Demonstrate subject matter expertise with procedural and processing requirements for several business non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications (H, L, TN, O, E, PERM, I-140, AOS, etc.). A qualified paralegal need not have experience with all but must have demonstrated expertise in several of these categories. Demonstrate subject matter expertise with procedural and processing requirements for other types of visa petitions and applications (K-1, I-130, N-400, DACA, etc.) Independently analyze case documents and prepare immigration applications for attorney review and filing with the appropriate government agency. Own case docket by proactively communicating and following up with clients and the attorney and timely advise attorneys about deadlines to accurately and timely prepare applications. Identify legal issues and proactively/timely communicate the same to attorneys. Complete competence of case types previously handled and continually strive to advance and broaden knowledge base. Processes a high volume of cases and works on cases of increasing complexity and variation. Prepare forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review. Manage the status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review. May review the work of junior legal staff, i.e., a specialist and coordinator. Utilize case management system and document management system (iManage) to prepare, manage, track, and record all aspects of casework. Responsible for completing the following in the CMS, on an ongoing and real-time basis: Updating all relevant Beneficiary level data points. Updating all case-level data points. Completing/updating case steps/milestones. Updating and managing the status of all filed applications and petitions. Quality of the data for all data points required for reporting and data analytics. Retiring/inactivating cases promptly. Retiring/inactivating Company, Beneficiary, and Dependent records promptly. Communicate with client company contact and/or foreign nationals. Responsible for one or more special projects as assigned. Supervise or otherwise complete tasks including check requests, invoice processing, client intakes, etc. Demonstrate commitment to professional development through ongoing training. Work collaboratively by proactively sharing immigration developments with the entire immigration practice group. Other duties as assigned. Indicate core duties. A combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform higher-end duties of the position may substitute for formal education requirements. Must have relevant experience preparing business immigration applications and other types of immigration matters. Must have a congenial personality, excellent client interaction skills,s and demonstrated passion for immigration work. Must have the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work independently as needed. The candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, manage time efficiently, work independently as needed, be astute at identifying issues, and be a quick learner in a fast-paced environment. The ability to prioritize workload, meet strict deadlines, and interact effectively with professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds as well as in-house counsel and H.R. professionals is a must. Must be detail-oriented to ensure the highest level of accuracy and be able to multi-task.
