Litigation Paralegal The candidate will run status reports on the Houston and LA office. Confirm both (Houston and LA) pre-lit departments are pushing the cases through the system and obtaining all the medical and bills necessary to prepare demands. Confirm all litigation deadlines are calendared and discovery is being answered in a timely fashion. Assist in keeping track of expert deadlines and reports - calendaring and weekly team meeting with both teams. Assist with note taking and the distribution of such notes after each weekly meeting. Keep track of assignments and the accomplishments. Interview and screen prospective clients. Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions. Schedule travel logistics for one or more attorneys. Transcribe legal documents. Schedule court hearings, depositions, and other proceedings. Trial preparation. The candidate should have a Paralegal Certificate and bachelor's degree or 5+ years of litigation experience. Experience with medical malpractice preferred. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Knowledgeable of procedural rules, including Code of Civil Procedure and Texas Court Rules. Professional and courteous to clients and staff. Detail-oriented, team player, positive, energetic, kind, well-spoken with excellent customer service skills. Perform well in a high-level fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Skilled with computers and software as well as organized. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook, Word), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and typing speed over 60 WPM. Demonstrate good ethics, and judgment and maintain the confidentiality of files.
