Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Drafting Petitions, Schedules, SOFA, Proofs of Claim, Fee Applications, Retention Applications and other official bankruptcy forms and correspondence. Filing documents electronically within the Federal Courts, specifically with both the U.S. Bankruptcy and the U.S District Courts and service of same. High level of communication with Courts, Judge s Chambers, US Trustee s Office, debtors/creditors and counsel. Research regarding bankruptcy dockets, recent filings, court decisions, and news about corporate insolvencies. Handle cases from inception to completion: client intake, petition preparation, chapter 11 plan, proof of claim objections, filing motions and working with trustee office to confirm plans. Preparation of hearing binders and related materials. Calendaring of critical dates related to bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings and related litigation. Review and upload new cases. Send demands for monthly 341 cases. Collect, review and analyze cases and documents filed and provided. Assemble notes, reports and various forms in preparation for monthly 341s. Attend monthly 341 meetings with trustee. Follow up with demands on files held open by trustee and continued file maintenance. Assist in financial accounting and distributions. Knowledge of USI trustee procedures and policies relating to Chapter 7 trustee practice. Manage and calendar all important file dates and extensions of same by stipulation or motion. Process distributions and associated reports for submission to UST for approval. Qualifications: 3-5 years of law firm experience as a Trustee Case Administrator or Bankruptcy Paralegal. Expertise in CM/ECF, PACER, Best Case Bankruptcy, Westlaw, and TCMS, BMS or other trustee support programs. Knowledge of Bankruptcy Court procedures and practices, with specialized trustee background preferred. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, are key requirements. Strong sense of accountability, ownership and responsibility. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities and achieve solutions under deadlines.
