Litigation Paralegal The candidate will assists attorneys in all aspects of pre-trial preparation, trial preparation and post-trial. Will review of client file. Obtain and index/organize all documents provided by the client relative to the litigation, including chronology of documents using CaseMap. Discussion of factual background of case with attorney and recommendations concerning any further factual investigation necessary. Calendar. Calendar SOL. Calendar all. Set Motions For Trial. Obtain Scheduling Orders. Pleadings. Preparation of initial draft of Complaint/Petition. Preparation other form pleadings not involving substantive legal theory such as Motions To Compel, etc. Preparation of initial discovery. Review of received discovery and work with client to answer discovery. Review of client's draft answers to interrogatories and discussion with attorney concerning same; preparation of any necessary revisions of answers. Extensive preparation and organization of documents for production, in certain cases by e-discovery. Prepare. Obtain deposition dates. Preparation of initial draft notices of depositions with subpoena preparation. Scheduling of reporter and conference room. Scheduling of witness interview, informing witness of trial dates; in certain cases, the paralegal may be asked to conduct an initial interview. Research Defense Experts. Retain Plainitff's experts. Schedule appointment with expert witness (es). Prepare draft letter to expert, forwarding materials for his/her review. Limited legal research, Witness research, Trial. Working knowledge Trial presentation software. Working knowledge of syncing video depositions and deposition transcripts. Video & Deposition editing. Preparation of and marking exhibits for depositions and/or trial. Prepare form Pre-trial motions. Prepare electronic Trial notebooks. Jury Venire research. Pre-trial check of jury questionnaires and jury lists. Settlement & Mediation. Attend trial with the attorney; preparation on an initial draft of release and dismissal entry. Preparation of Notice of Appeal. Order record on appeal. Prepare Motion To Supplement Record based on attorney review of omitted documents. Prepare Motion For Extension briefing deadlines. Work on organizing all files, with detailed index for easy retrieval in the future, in necessary. Ensuring file is scanned in and moved to closed files. Retain Investigator. Locate witness. Retain process server. Motion to Appoint Process Server. Find location for deposition. The candidate should have Bachelor's degree. Must have 5 years experience in Plaintiff's personal injury litigation law practice. Strong understanding of litigation terms is required. Must have technological skills, Microsoft Word skills. Must have case Management System experience. Should have superior research skills, including the use of online services, databases and the Internet. Superior organizational skills needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical, problem solving and decision making skills required.
