Corporate Paralegal Coordinator Duties: Assists Legal Services in the firm-wide recruitment and training of new paralegals as well as the coordination of the day-to-day activities, workflow and needs assessment of the corporate paralegal group. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the corporate paralegal group including work flow and staffing. Availability for overtime and travel are required. Reviews and monitors paralegal billable and non-billable hours. Manages out of office time for paralegals. Ensures adequate support coverage is in place. Manages staffing for client matters and projects. Coordinates and oversees staff caseloads and group work flow to ensure paralegal growth, matter efficiency, and leverage. Takes lead on recruiting, interviewing and hiring of paralegals. Takes lead on the on-boarding and orientation of new hires in the entry program. Develops, maintains corporate-specific programs. Assists in the compilation and analysis of staffing-related data and metrics. Assists with marketing of paralegal utilization. Identifies additional areas requiring paralegal support and identifying growth opportunities for the group. Serves as a career counselor for the growth and development of the paralegals. Seeks out and advocates for growth opportunities for group. Actively coaches and partners with paralegals and case assistants on their ongoing workloads identifying opportunities for expanded matter support, improved efficiencies, and attainment of professional goals. Regularly partners with managers and team leads in an effort to match paralegal goals with available opportunities. Acts as a mentor to paralegals to work more effectively and efficiently by optimizing the use of technology and resources. Provides input on best practices and assists with implementation and maintenance of agreed upon best practice procedures and processes. Assists with department projects as needed and performs other work-related duties as necessary. Complies with department and firm administrative procedures and policies. Responsible for billing of 500+ hours of client-related projects and other credited work. The candidate has a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years' corporate experience. Must have a background of proven success in a corporate environment. Ability to perform research and analysis to any degree of complexity, superior document organizational skills, excellent leadership and mentoring abilities to guide subordinates in reaching goals, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Prior coordination experience preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the firms internal and personnel affairs. Able to interact and collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel, including management staff and support staff. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills. Able to manage and lead a team. Able to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context. Serves as a resource, facilitator and mentor in order to effectively support the needs of the department. Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks. Must be able to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues. Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with the appropriate parties. Able to influence at all levels of the organization. Possesses excellent attention to detail and follows up and follows through on deliverables. Owns professional development by seeking out feedback and learning new skills. Takes ownership of deliverables and is accountable. Able to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations. Able to effectively work in a multi-office environment and a culturally and educationally diverse environment. Able to travel nationally and internationally on short notice.
