Litigation Legal Secretary The candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting attorneys with all aspects of litigation including discovery, court filings and trial preparation. Will preparation of legal documents and correspondence from draft and edits to final form. Will assist in all aspects of litigation including doing state and federal court filings, including e-filings. Will enter and maintain dates for hearings, depositions and other court related deadlines using a litigation calendaring system (Compulaw) as well as using Outlook calendars to schedule other appointments and meetings. Compose materials such as correspondence, discovery, pleadings, briefs, petitions and general administrative forms. Will answer phones, prepare and follow up on matters relating to document preparation and time keeping/billing. Will assist with client engagement and retention including preparation of engagement letter, conflict check and submitting into our accounting system. The candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of and experience working with the Federal and California court systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Word is a must, including the use of styles and the creation and formatting of pleadings and other complex legal documents. Should have minimum of 5 years of law firm experience required, supporting a minimum of three attorneys in a mid-size firm. Should have advanced skills in Word 2013 or higher (using styles, generating TOC, track changes, document comparison) and Outlook; basic proficiency in Excel. Should have experience with the following software highly preferred: NetDocs, CompuLaw, Best Authority, Adobe Acrobat Pro. Knowledge of and experience with federal and state court systems including federal e-filing and state court online filing systems. Should have exceptional grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills; Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures. Practical knowledge of client billing. Must be proactive, service oriented, detailed, reliable, and have satisfactory references and background check.
