Civil Litigation Paralegal Duties: Strong emphasis on drafting requests and responses to discovery and motions - works with clients to complete discovery. Able to draft court-ready state and federal motions and filings quickly and with attention to detail; Maintain the litigation calendar flawlessly: to include discovery deadlines, hearings, appointments; Maintain daily organization of a high volume docket; E-file state and federal pleadings and motions; Document, organize, and prepare a file for trial; Deal professionally with clients; Maintain office file cloud system; and Able to scan, fax, email.
Requirements: Associates degree or higher; Paralegal certification strongly preferred if don t have the paralegal certificate but have the same length of time of practical experience doing the same job responsibilities in a plaintiffs law firm without the actual job title will review on a case by case basis; Must have 5+ years of litigation experience as a paralegal in a law firm- majority of time in a plaintiffs firm; Experience with federal and state e-filing; Experience calculating and calendaring deadlines via interpretation of local state and federal rules; Excellent communication skills and positive attitude; Friendly in the office, and able to handle multiple clients and multi-task; Be able to take direction, but also come up with ideas of own on how to potentially improve the office; Have attention to detail cannot be stressed enough; Reliable and trustworthy; Respectful and honest; Grace under pressure; Able to put out a quality work product every day w/minimal to no errors; Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word; Experience with MAC/Apple computers is preferred; Experience with cloud-based client management software is a plus; Very computer savvy; Punctual - live within 30 minutes of the office; Willing to learn; Be able to pass a background check; Be a Notary; Points for being Spanish bilingual not required, but those that are bilingual encouraged to apply (speaking & writing); Points for being serious about your work, but having a sense of humor; and Points for having prior plaintiff personal injury experience that would allow you to work with minimal supervision on a small but growing personal injury docket.
