Litigation Paralegal - Water Section Responsibilities: Assist attorney with preparations for all phases of litigation: written discovery, depositions and trials. Conduct legal research and assist with initial case assessments. Communicate with clients and experts with regard to scheduling calls and sending and receiving documents. Track status and follow up with clients when documents have not been returned. Send out subpoenas, serve defendants with the process; search for service information on the Secretary of State database. Maintain charts/databases of written discovery, depositions and exhibits. Organize case files, documents, and exhibits. Assist attorneys in gathering information for and drafting such as Motions to compel; Motions for certification, etc.; and Witness List, Page/Line Designations. Contact client for missing information when appropriate. Obtain verifications and signed authorizations when needed. Gather required exhibits. Draft Certificate of Written Discovery. File/Serve if secretary unable to do so. Maintain document production tracking charts. Draft related letters, emails and form documents. Document coding. Locate documents using document review programs such as Xera, everlaw, etc. Keep track of what documents are produced for each client and defendant. Know the status of depositions and the applicable exhibit chart. Review documents produced in discovery. Qualifications: High school diploma with some College preferred. Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution. Should have 5 years of experience in complex litigation. Knowledgeable in the subpoena process. Experience with document review programs such as Xera. Experience with written discovery and depositions; i.e., the process, analysis, etc. Must be able to manage numerous tasks which are assigned via email and in person by attorneys. Advanced computer skills such as Word, including merging documents, Excel, including hyperlinks, Adobe, and Outlook. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines, ask for assistance to prioritize work when needed and communicate the status of assignments to attorneys when requested.
