Litigation Paralegal The candidate should have experience preparing and filing documents in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies (particularly the Ohio Public Utilities Commission and Illinois Commerce Commission). The candidate will be responsible for document management and case file organization, discovery management and document production, preparing witness files and exhibits, and assisting during depositions, trials and administrative hearings. The candidate will work closely with the attorneys and support staff to: assist attorneys with all aspects of the litigation process from case inception through trial and appeal process; maintain case files; assist attorneys with all phases of discovery; manage and organize large volumes of documents, including hard copy and electronic files; keep updated record and correspondence files; prepare electronic files and binders of hard copy documents; and assist with the preparation of briefs, memoranda, and exhibits (including cite checking). Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, the Office 365 platform (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint) is required; experience with Westlaw/Lexis, cite checking, and document review platforms such as Relativity is preferred. Assisting with the preparation, filing and service of pleadings in federal and state court and before administrative agencies. Organizing and managing documents, including the creation of spreadsheets and retrieval systems. Coordinating the collection, review and production of documents and responding to discovery requests. Assisting with trial preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions and court filings. Summarizing deposition and trial transcripts and exhibits. Researching case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources.
