Litigation Paralegal Specialist The candidate will assist Litigation attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, from the discovery period through trial and on to post-trial findings and appeals. Uses both advanced skills and depth of experience to manage case work and effectively deploy Firm resources. Provides guidance to team members relating to department processes in order to assure that all teams maintain standardized procedures. Can effectively handle multiple work streams and delegate tasks as required. Reviews and analyzes documents for production; categorizes documents by subject; prepares chronologies of facts; and reviews transcripts during the discovery phase. Works closely with attorney team and Technical Litigation Support in managing and tracking complex document productions. Possesses an advanced understanding of the discovery applications used to effectively support the litigation teams. Conducts various database searches and factual research to assist teams in the review and management of case-critical information throughout the life of a case. Assists with the preparation of motions: pulls relevant documents, proofreads, puts together exhibits, and indexes documents for table of contents; Organizes and maintains pleadings and correspondence files relevant to assigned cases using both traditional and automated procedures. Understands and assists with the process of e-filing with various courts and governmental agencies. Manages the processes related to document organization and production, including reviewing and analyzing documents for production; categorizing documents by subject; preparing a chronology of facts; and reviewing transcripts for specific references. Responsible for document organization and production, including number-stamping, redacting, printing, photocopying, and indexing of documents, auditing documents as required to ensure accuracy of production. Maintains and tracks production logs. Prepares for and attends depositions, hearings and trials: organizes exhibits, files exhibits and all other supporting documents; makes arrangements for transporting and setting up case materials at location. At trial, works with multiple stakeholders to assure that all logistical and case management needs are met; marks, organizes, and handles exhibits; Prepares motions: pulls relevant documents, proofreads, puts together exhibits and indexes documents for table of contents. Assists with cite checking. Conducts various document searches and factual research, including searches on computerized system when applicable; Performs other duties as assigned. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree with high academic standing. 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Advanced knowledge of technology and database applications. Well-versed in legal terminology, legal processes and procedures. Must be able to travel for extended periods, sometimes on short notice as necessary. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at one time. Well versed in Relativity, Case Notebook and Opus 2, Adobe Acrobat, LexisNexis and Westlaw; Ability to work overtime as needed.
