Paralegal - Patent Docketing Duties: Manages all US maintenance fees and foreign annuities fees. Reviews, sorts, and routes PTO, PCT, foreign associate and client correspondence to attorneys and paralegals. Prepares and routes weekly docket reports to attorneys and patent staff; manages dockets and advises attorneys of all upcoming deadlines for assigned cases. Checks docket daily and routes emails regarding drop-dead deadlines. Prepares ad-hoc reports of client dockets upon requests by attorneys or clients. Responds to inquiries regarding status of incoming correspondence. Prepares new records in CPI. Prepares new records in IPDAS. Communicates urgent correspondence to attorneys and paralegals. Corresponds with clients regarding upcoming maintenance fees or foreign annuities fees due. Sends instructions to CPI regarding upcoming maintenance fees or foreign annuities fees due. Downloads and reviews monthly CPI invoice of fees; prepares check request and coordinates allocation of fees to various client matters with Accounting. Contacts USPTO regarding status of applications. Works with management on maintaining forms, prosecution manual, or other processes. Orders patents and file histories as needed; assists with due diligence projects. Perform special projects as assigned. Record time for billing and statistical purposes. Performs any and all other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor for efficient functioning of the Department, Office and Firm. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate. 3+ years of US and foreign patent docketing experience; knowledge of US and foreign countries deadlines. Strong analytical and reasoning skills, and attention to detail. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Friendly, team-oriented demeanor. Proactive approach to ensuring deadlines are met and clients and attorneys are reminded about upcoming deadlines. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in CPI, IPDAS, Outlook, Word, Excel, and iManage FileSite. Ability to learn new technical skills as they become necessary. Expected to bill 1500 hours annually.
