Patent Prosecution Paralegal Responsibilities: Maintains and manages prosecution dockets for patent portfolios with the assistance of the Central Dockets Team, including ensuring due dates are docketed accurately and completely in electronic docketing system. Provides docket reports to attorneys to ensure due dates are met in a timely fashion including ensuring documents are prepared without enough time for clients to provide input. Anticipates attorney and matter needs by performing queries, drafting documents, and moving applications and other processes forward where possible. Prepares and/or files patent application packages, formal documents, Information Disclosure Statements, Office Action Responses, correspondence, and other documents. Coordinates submission of foreign, PCT, regional/national phase and EP validation patent applications and filings with foreign associates and agents. Proficiency with knockout searches using publicly available and private databases as well as the ability to correctly identify terms for ordering full analytics searches from vendors. Maintains integrity and quality of electronic prosecution files. Researches and analyzes legal issues. Reviews and analyzes patent families. Records billable and nonbillable time spent and working toward the billable goal assigned by the firm. Works with IP staff and/or accounting staff to process invoices for payment to foreign associates. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Legal Studies or Bachelor's Degree and Paralegal Certificate required. Minimum 7-10 years of recent experience as a Patent Prosecution Paralegal required. Practical knowledge and understanding of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act. Thorough and practical knowledge and experience with all procedural and substantive matters regarding patent application process, patent maintenance (including fees), and other tasks related to patent prosecution such as ex parte re-examination, Inter Partes Review, Post-Grant Review, and Covered Business Method proceedings. Proficiency with USPTO electronic filing and research systems, including EFS-Web and Private Pair, and Public Pair, WIPO Patent Scope, Dialogue, and/or similar systems. Experience with Patent Resource Center is a plus. Familiarity with Patent Cooperative Treaty ( PCT A?) and foreign priority regulations. Intermediate Microsoft Office required.
